We know that rabbit`s teeth, unlike humans or other animals such as cats or dogs, continue to grow throughout their life and are kept the right size through daily wear, e.g. eating. You should make sure that the teeth wear naturally and don`t have any sharp angles or points that could injure your rabbit`s lips or tongue. Check not only its front teeth, but its peg teeth, which are a set of eleven teeth behind its front teeth.

Make sure your rabbit has a fiber rich diet in order to avoid this from happening, as it can cause the rabbit abscesses and pain. Give it feed it can chew on such as apple tree branches, maple or willow branches so they can wear their teeth correctly.

In addition, you need to make sure that your rabbit`s teeth grow outwards instead on inward towards the gums. Proper nutrition is an important factor for caring for your rabbit`s dental health. Your pet`s diet shouldn`t be excessively calorific- instead, it should be rich in foods such as hay, alfalfa, vegetables and herbs. Overgrown nails can actually be dangerous to your rabbit`s teeth because, if they accidentally scratch their teeth, they could cause damage to tooth enamel. Therefore, you should trim them regularly.
