Hiking causes three dogs to die, one to faint: how to keep your dog safe

According to Marielle Mohs of KTHV, in Little Rock, AR three dogs have died from heat and one has passed out while hiking. All of this tragedy has just been in the month of July.

Pinnacle Mountain State Park Interpreter, Jillian Rossi explains, “The humidity affects people, but it affects dogs up to three times more.” In other words, if you’re hot, your dog is probably hotter. Pinnacle officials also warn pet parents to always be prepared when hiking. Bring plenty of water, and make sure your dog has the stamina to complete the hike.
